Mark Murphy is a founder and partner in the law firm of Wulsin Murphy LLP. The firm focuses its practice on real estate tax appeals.
Mark has extensive experience as a litigator and focuses his practice on real estate tax appeals and assessment law. From 1998 to 2005, Mark worked in the Business Litigation Department at Burns & Levinson LLP in Boston, Massachusetts. His practice was concentrated in the areas of general commercial, real estate tax and employment litigation. He represented individual and corporate clients in all aspects of litigation from discovery through trial and appeal, as well as mediation and arbitration. Prior to joining Burns & Levinson, Mark gained criminal law and trial experience as an assistant district attorney in Bronx County, New York, where he was responsible for prosecuting embezzlements, frauds, forgeries, and other economic related crimes.
Mark graduated from Villanova University in 1988 with a B.S. degree in accounting. He received a J.D. degree from George Washington University School of Law in 1995, where he was selected to be a member of the Moot Court Board, was appointed Chair of the National Security Law Moot Court Competition and served as Treasurer of the Student Bar Association. Prior to attending law school, Mark worked as an auditor in the public accounting industry and for a Fortune 500 company. Previously, he was certified as a public accountant by the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Mark is a member of the Massachusetts and New York bars and is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the Boston Bar Association and the Massachusetts Association of Assessing Officers. Currently, he serves on the Board of Editors of the Boston Bar Journal.
